How did you choose your sport?

"Basketball was just something I grew up with. It was always a part of my family. I feel like Basketball found me. It's something I love doing and look forward to everyday"-Sophia Carrizales

What is your favorite part of being a Student Athlete?

"My favorite part is after a bad day at school, I could just go to the gym and leave it all on the court like that day never happened. Basketball makes me overlook all the bad moments i've had that day"-Sophia Carrizales

As a High School Athlete have you ever doubted yourself or your game?

"I've doubted myself many times. I feel like Basketball takes a strong mentality when you play. Basketball Makes you doubt about everything when it gets tough."-Sophia Carrizales

Has there been a time when you doubted whether or not you could continue as a Student Athlete?

"There has been plenty of times where I want to just give up and just be a student. I feel like thats a part of the game. You lose yourself, but i've learned from all those times. I learned that as successful I am today, I wouldn't be here if I didn't have those doubts."-Sophia Carrizales

After all those doubts and setbacks how were you able to embrace those doubts and still be successful?

"I just kept reminding myself who I play for and why I need to keep working hard no matter the setbacks. I make sure to embrace it everyday in a humble and calm way."-Sophia Carrizales

Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?

"I see myself playing Basketball or writing for a sports magazine. I hope to support my family and give them back everything they've given me."-Sophia Carrizales

What advice would you give to younger athletes who are just starting in your sport?

"I would tell them no matter what obstacles are in the way, they're never too big. That when you're on the court; leave it all out there no matter if you're having a bad game or day because at the end you'll feel even more satisfied." -Sophia Carrizales
