"TAKE THE LEAP!" Andie's Journey Continues at TLU

ree

Andie Lomeli Lozano, a former Pace High School standout and Embrace Doubt Foundation scholarship recipient, continues to make strides in her volleyball career at Texas Lutheran University (TLU). Transitioning from high school to the collegiate level has been both challenging and rewarding, but Andie’s dedication and perseverance have helped her adjust to the increased intensity of college athletics.

Now competing at TLU, Andie has embraced the grind of college volleyball—balancing academics, training, and competition. She has developed her skills further under the guidance of her college coaches, refining her game and becoming a stronger, more strategic player. Whether it’s through her defensive plays, court awareness, or leadership on and off the court, Andie continues to grow as an athlete and teammate.

Her freshman year has already been filled with impressive accomplishments:

Individual Accomplishments:

• All-SCAC Honorable Mention – Recognized for her standout performances in her first collegiate season.

• 9 Blocks vs. Schreiner – Set the record for most blocks in a game by a freshman at TLU since 2005.

Team Accomplishments:

• 2nd Place in SCAC Conference (2024) – Contributed to TLU’s strong finish in a competitive conference.

Despite the challenges of adjusting to the fast-paced college game, Andie has embraced the competitive atmosphere and used it as motivation to grow. She credits the intensity of the sport and her talented teammates for pushing her to improve every day.

Andie’s Advice for High School Athletes:

“Take the leap! It was initially hard getting used to a competitive college atmosphere, but it forces you to grow. Growth is the most important aspect of the game, and if you enjoy pressure, the college game is for you. Everyone has worked so hard to be there, and your teammates’ skills challenge you. When going through recruiting, be positive! Coaches love players who reach out and always have a smile on their face. Challenge yourself—you are capable of the next level.”

Andie’s journey is an inspiration for younger athletes looking to take their game to the next level. She knows firsthand the importance of hard work and resilience, and she hopes to encourage student-athletes from her hometown in Brownsville to chase their dreams despite the doubts.
